Career Programs

In our effort to encourage independence and life skills we have decided to invite professionals from different fields to come in and talk about their career and what it means to them. Clients often have the opportunity to talk about the different careers that interest them. We have been fortunate enough to have a few regular visitors come on an annual basis. Lillian a librarian working at the local library talks about her job and invites us to the library to register for individual library cards. We’ve had a student nurse from George brown College, Tracy Cordeiro come in to talk about the nursing career. Tracy brought along some of her medical instruments and gave each client a chance to go up and get their blood pressure measured. We’ve also had a group from the George Brown dance program come in and put on a wonderful performance for our clients. At the end the dancers talked a little about their dance careers and gave our clients a chance to ask questions. It was a great morning and the clients enjoyed it very much.
