Programs that focus on real-life scenarios encourage participant awareness and independence in everyday living. During the warm spring, summer and fall months, participants go out into the community to visit local establishments like coffee shops, retail stores and engage in community volunteering opportunities.
This helps us support participants in the objective of enhancing their social skills and integration into the community. The enjoyment of being with each other outside of the program also adds to their sense of independence, self-esteem and respect and also fosters further understanding from the community as a whole.
Luso promotes opportunities to collaborate with the community and support personal safety, organizing seminars/events where local Police and Fire Departments share their knowledge about important aspects of everyday life with participants.
