Programs that focus on real-life scenarios encourage participant awareness and independence in everyday living. During the warm spring, summer, and fall months, participants go out into the community to visit local establishments like coffee shops and retail stores, and even engage in community volunteering opportunities.
This helps us support participants in the objective of enhancing their social skills and integration into the community. The enjoyment of being with each other outside of the program also adds to their sense of independence, self-esteem, and respect. It helps foster further understanding from the community as a whole.
Luso promotes opportunities to collaborate with the community and support personal safety, organizing seminars/events where local Police and Fire Departments share their knowledge about important aspects of everyday life with participants.
