Life Skills

Life Skills such as cooking, shopping, personal hygiene, self-care, and safety are practiced at Luso! These daily activities are carried out to support the personal independence and community integration of participants.

Participants enjoy cooking, baking, and helping prepare home-cooked meals to enjoy. Our focus on teaching the principles of basic food preparation, healthy foods, hygiene, and various aspects of safety, all make Life Skills one of the most important and rewarding parts of our programming.

Literacy and numeracy are also important components of the program’s focus. Activities use both group based and one-on-one learning to achieve results tailored to each individual’s specific needs. Our libraries, various guests, and volunteers are excellent resources to facilitate ongoing learning.
