The 10th edition of the Annual Volta Luso Charities, presented by LIUNA Local 183, was a truly community accomplishment, with over 1000 participants registered across Mississauga and Hamilton! This was a day of pure community camaraderie, for a show of strength to support the lives of individuals living with disabilities and their families!
An astonishing record amount of $500,000 was raised in support of Luso Canadian Charitable Society’s Day Programs, Day & Overnight Respite Care Programs and to build an upcoming 24/7 supportive residential housing in Hamilton, ultimately benefiting individuals living with disabilities and their families. We are humbled beyond words!!!
We sincerely thank the enormous generosity of all donors, sponsors, walkers, runners, cyclists, riders, community members, associations, clubs!

We extend our thanks to the Portuguese Cultural Centre of Mississauga and to the LIUNA Station for hosting the #2024lusovolta, to all in-kind donors, volunteers, Luso staff and Board Members for their invaluable help. We thank Bailinho de Rabo de Peixe, Bombos group “Os Alegres”, Rancho Folclórico “As Tricanas”, Ticats Dance & Cheer from Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and gstudioz.ca for providing entertainment for all throughout the day!
A special thank you to Ana Luísa Riquito, Consul-General/Consulado-Geral de Portugal em Toronto for participating in the 8km walk, mingling around Luso families and Volta attendees all day, and for her strong words of support for Luso and the Portuguese community!
